Chikai No Finale – Too Rushed?

Header Chikai no Finale

Chikai no Finale is the second sequel movie from the series Sound Euphonium. This movie takes place a year after the series, with the new first year students joining the club and the old third year students graduated. I was very excited when I found out that Sound Euphonium is getting a sequel. I’m a bit disappointed that it is a movie instead of a series but I appreciated it nonetheless. Now let’s move forward to what I think about this movie.

Long story short, I love it. I get to relive Sound Euphonium again, how could I not love it?

I Watched ‘Stop This Sound’ Because of The Romance

Blushing Moments 2

Yes, you read it right. I watched this anime only because I saw a lot of blushing scenes on multiple social media platforms. I once said I didn’t want to continue watching the second season but yet here I am. I explained in this post that I didn’t really enjoy watching this anime. And I still hold to my stance. I did not enjoy the musical performance (but this season is much better), I don’t like how overdramatic everyone is, I don’t find the dynamics of the characters interesting and I especially hate the trio boys. I mean, why do they exist?? However, I found out that there are ships in this anime and all of them aren’t harem so I tried looking into it and now, I finished the anime. Basically, I decided to continue watching this anime just because I want to watch anime girls blush.

Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc Impressions

20190911181847_1

I’m currently playing a game called Danganronpa. It’s a very unique game (or visual novel) about 15 students who are trapped in an abandoned school by a bear-like psychopath. The only way for them to be freed is by killing at least one person and getting away with it.

Unlike other battle royale stories which revolve around being the last one to survive, in this story, you just have to kill one person without letting any other students know you’re the culprit. After a murder takes place, there will be a period of time for all the students to investigate the crime scene and search for all the evidences. Then, the ‘class trial’ starts.

Domestic Girlfriend – Should I Watch It?

For some reason, I thought this song was sung by Mafumafu. If you don’t know who he is, he’s a Japanese singer who sounds like a girl. I like this song because of how emotionally committed the singer sings the song. She sings with desperation, frustration and exasperation. This goes hand in hand with its lyrics which is pretty depressing in my opinion.

Then I found out that…

Musical Performances in Sound! Euphonium

Sound Euphonium 1.jpg
The live performance is one of the most important moments in all music anime. If it’s good, it makes the characters feel more real and alive. If the anime skips the performance, it makes us wonder why it is a music anime in the first place.

Many music anime such as Stop This Sound, which I recently watched, have so many dialoguesduring the performance. As they play their instruments, the characters watching them play would make remarks like, “It’s very good. I feel like all the seasons have changed” or “oh my God they all play the impossible notes in sync even though it’s… well, impossible!!!” The remarks, to me, break the flow of the performance. I want to listen to the performance and let me catch it first hand how awesome or awful they play and how good they’ve become. But I can’t because other characters keep interrupting me and describe how they play to me. Continue reading

Kaguya-sama Love is War – Essentially A Comedy

Kaguya 1

The more popular anime from last season ended a while ago and it has received much praise from many people including myself. It’s a comedy anime about two people liking each other but refuses to confess to each other because in doing so, they declare that they are the loser of their own love war. They subconsciously know that the other person likes them back so they always make the most elaborate plans to lure the other person into accidentally confessing or imply a confession. Both Shinomiya Kaguya and Shirogane Miyuki are depicted as intelligent students but they use their intelligence for idiotic purposes.

Cross Game: Switching The Main Heroine

Wallpaper Cross Game

Before going in, I just want to say that if you haven’t watched the first episode, I highly recommend you watch it. I’m going to go through a bit of the spoilery side of the episode. Well it’s only the first episode but a big event happens at the end of the episode. I watched the episode completely blind and I think it’s the best way to experience it. With that said, let’s begin.

A few minutes into the episode, I noticed a few things different about this anime. Firstly, it’s the character design. The anime has a very old styled character design which I think fits perfectly with the tone of the anime. Secondly, the tone of the anime. It looks like a sports anime from the outside but in the first episode, it’s quite clear that this is essentially a love story. The main character, Kitamura Kou spends way more time with the ‘supposed’ main heroine Tsukishima Wakaba than he plays or even thinks about baseball. After knowing this, some might be turned off because they expect a sport anime but I personally like the approach. I mean, I don’t hate romance in anime so I can see myself enjoying the series.

Do You Like Peco?

Peco

Ping Pong The Animation is a very unique sports anime both in terms of narrative and animation. The animation is what makes people turn away from the anime because of how jarring it is. It also doesn’t feel much like an anime because of the ‘realistic’ approach. Personally, while it did took some time to get used to it, I really like the animation because it compliments the direction of the narrative.

The narrative is also unique as it doesn’t follow the usual sports anime trope where the main character is an underdog and will eventually beat his or her rival with passion and practice. This sports anime is less about the sports but more about the characters’ stories and their journey of life. This brings me to one of the main characters of the anime, Peco.

Kaguya-sama Love is War Episode 6: Our Man Ishigami

Ishigami 5.png

This episode introduces us a new character by the name of Ishigami Yu. He is the emo, lonesome, NEET-like character who is apparently good at processing data. His expertise in processing data is what attracts the president to choose him to be the treasurer of the student council. How does he appear in the anime? By telling us he will disappear in a short while because he wants to quit being a student council member.
