Cross Game: Switching The Main Heroine

Wallpaper Cross Game

Before going in, I just want to say that if you haven’t watched the first episode, I highly recommend you watch it. I’m going to go through a bit of the spoilery side of the episode. Well it’s only the first episode but a big event happens at the end of the episode. I watched the episode completely blind and I think it’s the best way to experience it. With that said, let’s begin.

A few minutes into the episode, I noticed a few things different about this anime. Firstly, it’s the character design. The anime has a very old styled character design which I think fits perfectly with the tone of the anime. Secondly, the tone of the anime. It looks like a sports anime from the outside but in the first episode, it’s quite clear that this is essentially a love story. The main character, Kitamura Kou spends way more time with the ‘supposed’ main heroine Tsukishima Wakaba than he plays or even thinks about baseball. After knowing this, some might be turned off because they expect a sport anime but I personally like the approach. I mean, I don’t hate romance in anime so I can see myself enjoying the series.

Do You Like Peco?

Peco

Ping Pong The Animation is a very unique sports anime both in terms of narrative and animation. The animation is what makes people turn away from the anime because of how jarring it is. It also doesn’t feel much like an anime because of the ‘realistic’ approach. Personally, while it did took some time to get used to it, I really like the animation because it compliments the direction of the narrative.

The narrative is also unique as it doesn’t follow the usual sports anime trope where the main character is an underdog and will eventually beat his or her rival with passion and practice. This sports anime is less about the sports but more about the characters’ stories and their journey of life. This brings me to one of the main characters of the anime, Peco.

BanG Dream! Season 2 First Impressions Episode 1 – 3

Bang Dream 7.png

I enjoyed watching the first season of the anime so I thought, why not give its second season a watch too?

First up, the major change of the anime is its animation. They basically adapted the rhythm game animation which is the 3D animation to the anime. Honestly, it looks a bit weird at first. It’s quite surprising though because I did play the game a little bit and I was actually impressed with the animation. I thought it was smooth and sparkling. The game is just pretty to look at. Granted, the characters in the game don’t move that much compared to the anime so maybe that’s why it looks weird in the anime. It doesn’t take long for me to get used to this new style of animation so that’s good.

Land of The Lustrous: What’s With The Ending!??

Phos is Life.gif

The general premise of this anime is about these crystalline organisms called gems which inhabits the world. These organisms are actually immortal sparkling valuable jewels living on an island and are always fighting the Lunarians, another species that inhabits the world in which their only purpose is to attack the gems, break them and take them to ‘the moon’ for decoration. This series is basically about the gems fighting and surviving the attacks from the Lunarians for millennials.

It’s been a long time since I actually intended to watch this series. The main reason I want to watch this is obviously because of the gorgeous 3D animation which is pretty much non-existent anywhere else, at least in the anime industry. The scene that pretty much sold me to the anime is the scene where Diamond is running at night under the moonlight. It’s just so beautiful!

Impressions: Irozuku Sekai no Ashita Kara Episode 12

Hitomi and Yuito.png

This episode starts by continuing the relationship between Hitomi and Yuito as well as Hitomi’s eventual departure.

Out of all Hitomi’s desperation and depression, she at least has Yuito as her source of happiness. However, that source of happiness is going to disappear very soon so she’s frustrated by that fact. She thinks it’s better to not have met Yuito so she won’t have any of these confusing feelings. However, Yuito manages to convince her otherwise and thus indirectly making her take a step forward in facing the harsh truth of having to leave him and her friends. That step forward is well, to have the most fun with everyone, particularly with Yuito while she can. She’s basically facing her problem directly again instead of running away. She realizes that it’s no use wandering in the dark all the time. Her friends are always helping her so that’s the least she can do.
