The Dark Horror Genre in Anime

Horror anime

I have a confession… I have never watched a single horror genre anime in my life. Not even the popular anime, Another. Okay another confession… I actually don’t know what classifies an anime as a horror. If something like Future Diary or Death Note is considered a ‘horror anime’ than I’ve watched quite a few of anime like that. If horror anime should be similar to usual horror movies, than I don’t think I’ve watched any. Is there any real horror anime to begin with?

Shounen Anime

Shounen anime 1.jpg

It’s safe to say that shounen anime is the most popular genre of anime. From the big three of Naruto, One Piece and Bleach, shounen anime somehow wins the audience attention including myself.

I really don’t get how the shounen anime is categorized. It’s basically anime targeted towards young boys right? Is that the only category that they narrow? I mean, sure whatever young boys like, right? Of course the most popular is action series. But young boys also like comedy and cute girls. Are those anime considered shounen? How come Death Note is considered shounen? It barely has any action scenes!!!

Two Years Mark: The Only 2016 Anime That I watched

anime-new-year

Two years have passed very fast. The upside is that I managed to hold on to this blog for this long which is to me, great. The downside is that I haven’t been posting much. However, I’m a very stubborn guy. Even though this blog is pretty much on a shutdown phase, I still don’t want to stop blogging. That’s why I keep on coming to this blog even after a long sudden hiatus. I’ll say this over and over again, I’m not stopping this blogging thing anytime soon.

Because I started this blog at the end of the year, I decided to celebrate its birthday by writing about every anime that I watched that came out in that particular year. Last time, I managed to write on time. This time, it got a bit delayed. But hey, it’s better late than never right? So these are ALL the anime that came out in 2016 that I actually watched. They’re more than last year…

After watching ‘The Girl Who Leapt Through Time’ and ‘Wolf Children’ and hearing many positive feedbacks about the director Hasoda Mamoru, I think I might want to see some of his other works. So this led me to this anime which is pretty good. I really enjoy watching it. It has some great moments.

K-ON Movie Review

k-on43y

Synopsis

High school is coming an end and graduation day is getting very near. The senior club members of the Light Music Club decided to go on a graduation trip in London.

Review

Yes!! I finally managed to review the whole sequel of K-ON. I’m the type of person who will almost certainly watch the sequel of an anime even if the I don’t particularly like the first season of the show (that means I really should check out the second season of Seitokai Yakuindomo by now) and so far, watching that way is really worth it. Take The Haruhi Suzumiya series for example, I don’t like the series but I truly adore the movie. I think I’ll continue to watch anime like this until I found one anime that really pisses me off from start to finish. That said, I think it’s time for us to get into the review.

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya Review

the disappearance

Synopsis

The story takes place in winter. Haruhi has a big plan for Christmas party. She, being very pushy, gets every member of the SOS Brigade ready for the grand party. Several days later, Kyon wakes up and goes to school as per usual only to find out that Haruhi has disappeared. Nobody in his class remembers Haruhi. “What? You don’t know Haruhi?”—- “Koizumi, where is he?”—- “Is… Is that you Nagato Yuki?”

Review

If you read ‘The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Review’ you’ll know how much I dislike the series. Regardless, that didn’t deter me from watching this sequel movie. I planned to finish every sequel of the franchise even before I watched the series, and I’m glad I planned it that way. Continue reading

Whisper of The Heart Review

whisper-header

Synopsis

There lives a girl named Tsukishima Shizuku who loves to read and sometimes tries to write. She met a boy named Amasawa Seiji and later finds out that Seiji wants to be a professional violin maker. Knowing that, she doubts her own future. She doesn’t know what to do in her future life. She likes writing but does she really have the talent?

Review

This movie tells me a lot to me personally. I don’t know what to do in my life either. I like writing (which is the very reason I write this review in the first place) but can I really perform in it? Is a professional writer or a freelance writer a good occupation? Do I have the opportunity to become one? Other than writing what else can I do? Yeah, those are the questions lingering inside my noggin now. So does Shizuku (sort of). She likes to read fictional books and tries to write lyrics. She doubts her own talent but her friends say that her lyrics are amazing. She also doesn’t know whether or not to write in her future life so I find myself very relatable to her. Continue reading
