It becomes much more apparent when Kimari starts laughing and enjoying the supposed horrifying run. It shows the thrill the characters, especially Kimari are feeling doing something intense and novel. It shows the hope the characters are holding onto as they believe that anything can happen and everything is going to work out. It shows that their lives are changing either for better or for worse. In Kimari’s perception, of course it is for the better.
