I’ve Read Quite a Few Manga Lately

Reading Manga.jpg

As mentioned in the title, yes I’ve read a lot of manga lately. At least a lot for me. I actually don’t read manga that much because I’m a really slow reader. In fact, I actually don’t really need manga at all (aside from some shoujo manga that that are translated into my local language). I only watch anime for the most part. However recently I somehow read a considerable number of manga because…. I don’t have a choice.

Okay so, I actually started my internship program under my college two months ago and my workplace is quite far from my house. It’s a two hours train ride going to work and another two hours going home from work. So basically I spend around 4 hours every day on the train… standing up (because I’m young so of course they’ll be other older people who need the seats more than I do). I don’t wanna waste my time daydreaming on the train as it’ll be boring real quick so I decided to read manga on the train. Well sometimes I write but most of the time, I read manga. I definitely don’t scroll social media though. For some reason, it’s the least interesting thing to do on the train.

Conclusion of Anime and Its Genres

eromanga

This is the wrap up of my genre posts. From my previous posts, it’s very obvious that I like a light-hearted genre more than a dark and depressing genre. Especially now that I’m in my final semester of college where there are many things to do but I have no idea how to do them. At all. But I’m expected to do great at them… God just let this end quick!

As you can see from my previous posts, I generalize the genre to make it easier for me to differentiate. I usually see romance as something very related to drama so I lump those two together. Granted there are romantic comedy so it’s categorized as comedy.

Shounen Anime

Shounen anime 1.jpg

It’s safe to say that shounen anime is the most popular genre of anime. From the big three of Naruto, One Piece and Bleach, shounen anime somehow wins the audience attention including myself.

I really don’t get how the shounen anime is categorized. It’s basically anime targeted towards young boys right? Is that the only category that they narrow? I mean, sure whatever young boys like, right? Of course the most popular is action series. But young boys also like comedy and cute girls. Are those anime considered shounen? How come Death Note is considered shounen? It barely has any action scenes!!!

Slice of Life, Moe and Comedy in Anime

K on.jpeg

Is there any ‘slice of life’ drama out there other than anime? Well usually it is associated with comedy.

Slice of life, by definition should explore the representation of our lives. It should represent our daily lives in a realistic manner. It is usually about people’s ordinary life routine which more often than not, is mundane.

However, anime seems to be doing quite the opposite. True, they are still about ordinary daily lives but somehow they managed to make it more interesting than it should be. Slice of life is usually combined with comedy and Moe.

The Romance Genre in Anime

maxresdefault

Hi everyone, I’m back again!!!

Romantic genre in anime is a hit and miss for anime watchers. Some like it because of their innocence and some don’t because of their shallowness. Which group do I fall into? I fall into the former. My blog is filled with Romance anime. I think I’ve watched more romance anime than I watched other genre. I’m basically a sucker for romance anime.

Starting Over

littleWitch.jpg

Hey everyone, I’m back again! I know I’ve not posted in a very long time… I’ve basically abandoned this blog. I only come back to it whenever I feel like it, which is pretty much never. I feel sorry for this blog, for the people who used to read this blog and for my followers. My followers… Do you guys still remember this blog? HAHA! If you do, well then thank you very much for remembering!

Now I decided to make a comeback (lol) to this blog. Well not exactly a comeback but I’m planning to continue posting contents in this blog. And I’m hoping to have more posts this year.

Why did I decide to come back to this blog? Well, I decided to come back because I have an assignment that requires me to post things of my interest. We could pick any interest as long as it’s under ‘entertainment’ and obviously, I picked anime as the theme. It’s easier than any other of my interests and I can cover a lot under anime. We are required to post at least 5 entries but my lecturer encouraged us to post more. So I guess I have to post more? Yea that’s what I’ll do.

So yeah, I guess that’s it from me. Do look forward to my next posts. I just freaking hope I can keep this blog up even AFTER finishing the assignment. Till then, see you later guys! 🙂

Two Years Mark: The Only 2016 Anime That I watched

anime-new-year

Two years have passed very fast. The upside is that I managed to hold on to this blog for this long which is to me, great. The downside is that I haven’t been posting much. However, I’m a very stubborn guy. Even though this blog is pretty much on a shutdown phase, I still don’t want to stop blogging. That’s why I keep on coming to this blog even after a long sudden hiatus. I’ll say this over and over again, I’m not stopping this blogging thing anytime soon.

Because I started this blog at the end of the year, I decided to celebrate its birthday by writing about every anime that I watched that came out in that particular year. Last time, I managed to write on time. This time, it got a bit delayed. But hey, it’s better late than never right? So these are ALL the anime that came out in 2016 that I actually watched. They’re more than last year…

My First Time Going to an Anime Convention

comic-fiesta-2015

I’m just going to share with you guys my first experience going to an anime convention. But to clarify and clean things up, it’s not really an anime convention. It’s a comic convention called ‘Comic Fiesta’ but since western comics are not that popular in my country, this conventions seemed to be specifically for anime fans. There were some Marvel and Dc stuffs or even local comics but they were very limited. Alright this post might be lengthy because I’m just going to ramble about my experience without any proper structure. If you think this is too long, just go to ‘read more’ tag and start reading from there. That’s when I actually went inside the convention. So, here goes…

I arrived at the convention centre at about 8:30 in the morning but the event started at 10. I was pretty excited about going to this event actually. That’s why I arrived pretty early (but other people were there as early as 7:00 a.m So that means we were actually late…kinda). I went there by a car with two of my friends. I’m going to call them friend A and friend B. Both of them have never gone to a anime convention before. They were just tagging along with me.

We were supposed to meet my older cousins, two of them at the nearest train station but they were late so we decided to line up and buy the tickets first while waiting for them.

To kill the time while lining up, we…actually didn’t do anything. Yes we did have a chat a little but we’re not talkative enough to be able to have a decent and continuous conversation for more than an hour. We did pretty much nothing. I remember reading Saekano at Nanodesu but I couldn’t really concentrate reading it so that only lasted for so long.

Maybe he was bored or impatient but friend A started to be aggressive by cutting the lines. He signaled us to do the same using his hands and making weird gestures. We rejected his offer because nope we just won’t. We’re good people, we are definitely not going to  – we ended up being as aggressive as him. Screw him for manipulating us to the dark side.

My cousins suddenly phoned me and told me that they have arrived. They asked me to buy the tickets for them while they just wait somewhere else. Okay then, I was in the line anyway so that was no problem at all. However, the problem started after I bought the tickets. There was no reception inside the building. The ticket booth was inside the building of the convention centre while the line was outside the building. The place with no reception was inside the building so it was hard to reach my cousins who were outside after I bought the tickets. Only after multiple tries did I manage to reach them.

They told me that they were at a specific location but I couldn’t understand what they were saying… so I guess, the only option for me was to rummage for them. I told my friends to wait at the front of the entrance while I search for my cousins. I searched for them back and forth for more than enough times until I finally found them. It took me about 15 minutes for me to be able to finally find my cousins. I felt super relieved after I found them. At that time it was about 11.

I’m just going to call them cousin A and cousin B. This was the first time for cousin A to go to this kind of convention. As for cousin B, it was his second time. Basically, we’re all noobs. But anyway, it was good now. I finally reunited with my older cousins. The only thing we had to do was meeting up again with two of my friends and then everything would be fine. Yes, everything is going to be fine. But it’s not! My friends were not at the front of the entrance anymore. Where have they gone? I told you to wait there you bastards!!!

I tried to phone them but the reception was so bad, I didn’t manage to reach them. I seriously didn’t know why the reception was so bad. But luckily after a few tries, I managed to reach friend B. He told me that he went in with another person (let’s call her friend C) and that person is a girl. That’s understandable I guess, but still… He not only split up with me, he even split up with friend A! That was outrageous! But whatever right? That just means I didn’t have to worry about him anymore. I tried to phone friend A multiple times but I just couldn’t reach him. Soon after, I gave up. My cousins and I went inside the convention leaving my friends behind (or rather, they left me behind for that matter). It’s not like they’re going to die without me or anything like that so, I didn’t have to worry about them too much right? I can only blame the horrible reception for this.

My Second Time Going to an Anime Convention

comic-fiesta-2016

Where do I start? I guess I’ll start with explaining about the convention first. In my country which is Malaysia, there is only one big anime convention that pretty much every anime fan here go to. The convention is called Comic Fiesta. It is held annually in December and lasts for two days. It’s more of a comic convention than an anime convention but people here don’t read comics that much. We watch more anime instead.

I went to this convention last year and I think this year is much more fun and organized. Last year was totally hectic. This year, we went to the convention well prepared. How? By buying the early bird ticket and arriving at the location much earlier. We were very excited about this event. We arrived at 7.45 a.m even though the event only started at 9.30 a.m. I guess we arrived pretty early but there are many others who had arrived way earlier than us. They’re… they’re very passionate. Upon arriving, we quickly queued at the entrance. Since it’ll be more than an hour before the event actually started, the visitors are allowed to sit down on the floor and wait.

When it was finally 9.30 a.m, (it was actually a tad bit earlier than that), the event finally started and we were allowed to enter the building. So what did we do first? We went to the food stalls and bought some overpriced food! Why? Because we didn’t know where to go. Like last year, we didn’t actually have any specific location to go or booth to visit so to avoid the crowded place, the food stalls were the first place that we went. Not long after, we started our journey… which was wandering from booth to booth, the only thing that we could do.
