Kaguya-sama Love is War – Essentially A Comedy

Kaguya 1

The more popular anime from last season ended a while ago and it has received much praise from many people including myself. It’s a comedy anime about two people liking each other but refuses to confess to each other because in doing so, they declare that they are the loser of their own love war. They subconsciously know that the other person likes them back so they always make the most elaborate plans to lure the other person into accidentally confessing or imply a confession. Both Shinomiya Kaguya and Shirogane Miyuki are depicted as intelligent students but they use their intelligence for idiotic purposes.

Land of The Lustrous: What’s With The Ending!??

Phos is Life.gif

The general premise of this anime is about these crystalline organisms called gems which inhabits the world. These organisms are actually immortal sparkling valuable jewels living on an island and are always fighting the Lunarians, another species that inhabits the world in which their only purpose is to attack the gems, break them and take them to ‘the moon’ for decoration. This series is basically about the gems fighting and surviving the attacks from the Lunarians for millennials.

It’s been a long time since I actually intended to watch this series. The main reason I want to watch this is obviously because of the gorgeous 3D animation which is pretty much non-existent anywhere else, at least in the anime industry. The scene that pretty much sold me to the anime is the scene where Diamond is running at night under the moonlight. It’s just so beautiful!

Red Data Girl: Knowing Japanese Legends is a Necessity

Red Data Girl 3.jpg

I just watched Red Data Girl and I have to admit, I am super confused. I had high hopes for this anime. It had potential but unfortunately, it is really bad at worldbuilding. I think that’s the main flaw of the series.

First off we have our main character, Suzuhara Izumiko who for some reason can’t interact with any electrical devices because if she does, all the electrical devices within the diameter of about one class will malfunction. She also has many other ‘spiritual’ abilities such as being able to detect shikigami disguised as a human effortlessly. She is later revealed to be half Goddess. Because of this, two mountain monks by the name of Sagara Yukimasa and his son Sagara Miyuki are tasked to guard her from any harm especially from the shikigami. The story starts for real after Izumiko and Miyuki are also forced to enroll in a school full of students that are spiritually talented for reasons that I honestly forgot or just don’t understand from the beginning.

Steins; Gate 0: A Sequel To an Already Perfect Ending

Steins Gate Zero 1

Hey there friends! Okay so I’m gonna talk about Steins; Gate 0 now. Firstly, Steins; Gate 0 is a really great anime. Watch it if haven’t already and also watch the original Steins; Gate. They are some of the best anime of all time, trust me.

If you’re not familiar with the series, let me explain to you the basic premise of the anime. This is a time travel anime and the series has 3 major worldlines, the first is alpha worldline, the second is beta worldline and the third is the Steins; Gate worldline. The alpha and beta worldlines are dystopian worldlines just in different ways but the Steins; Gate worldline is the utopian worldline which is the worldline that the characters are trying to pursue.

Most sequels don’t do justice to the prequel especially when the prequel already has a ‘perfect ending’. When the ending of a prequel is so good, the sequel usually ruins the prequel making its ending quite insignificant in some ways. And I dare say that the ending of the original Steins; Gate is already as ‘perfect’ it is.

Which is why Steins; Gate Load Region of Deja Vu, the sequel movie of the original Steins; Gate is very much forgettable because the story doesn’t need to be. It doesn’t need to exist. The ending of Steins; Gate is already perfect so to add anything to it would just ruin it.

Joshiraku: Their Clothes and Their Hairstyles

Joshiraku.jpg

Joshiraku is a very funny show. Their first joke is a freaking 4th wall breaker and that actually caught me off guard. Since it is an adaptation of a very dialogue heavy manga, the characters question why someone would want adapt it as an anime in the first place. That particular moment was what made me decide to continue watching this anime until the end. I highly recommend anyone who is into comedy anime to give this a try. The jokes can get a little random and a bit too Japanese at times, meaning that only Japanese people would mostly understand the jokes but even with that, I still think it’s a great comedy anime.

Well I’m not here to review the anime wholly. Rather, I want to point out one particular aspect of the anime which I find very interesting. You see, this anime usually sets in the dressing room of the girl’s working place in a comedy theater. However, every episode, there is a section where the characters go outside of their dressing room and into the city, like going out to the mall or to the amusement park or the hot spring.

Kiss Him, Not Me: Kae’s Obsession Towards Yaoi

Kiss Him Not Me 4.png

This series is about a horizontally challenged girl who is way too obsessed with the otaku culture especially yaoi. One day, her favourite character of an anime died which led her to a state of depression. She doesn’t go out of her room for a week and of course also doesn’t eat. After a week, she finally went out of her room and after she looks herself in the mirror, she finds out that she’s now HOT AS HELL. And so, that’s when the story starts.

I was actually attracted to this series when I heard that the main character transforms her appearance drastically because of her depression. I find it funny (I’m so sorry for those who are genuinely depressed). Now this series is mostly comedic and it relies almost entirely on the fact that Kae, the main character is obsessed with yaoi.

Just Because: My Favourite Ship Sunk

Just because 2

I’m gonna throw spoilers a little while later. But yes, my favourite ship in this anime sunk, which is very frustrating. Before I go any further, I’m just gonna tell you how I feel about this anime as a whole. I actually enjoyed it. A lot. However, looking back at it after some time finishing it, I realized that there aren’t many things that I like about this anime. I am a romance sucker so I like it for the basic reason that it’s a romance anime. I also like it because of its melodramatic atmosphere and the last reason I like about this anime is Komiya. Other than that, I don’t really like other ships that are available and I don’t particularly like all the other characters. They’re all very gloomy and always have a negative vibe. Because of this, I think the only reason I watch this anime is because of Komiya. She more or less single handedly lifts this anime up, in my opinion. I don’t really recommend anyone to watch this anime really but if you’re a romance sucker, you might find something you’d enjoy out of this anime.

*With that out of the way, let’s get to the spoilers and my sunk favourite ship*
