Day 12 – Friendship Meow Dance

MananaChio 1.png

Anime: Chio’s School Road

Save the best for the last. For those who haven’t watched this anime, I highly recommend watching it. It’s as funny as Asobi Asobase but weirder. If you like Asobi Asobase, you’ll like this. Also, watch the dub. I honestly think it’s much better than the sub.

To me, the most memorable scene in the whole anime is the MananaChio friendship dance. So, one day, Chio and Manana are going to school, like any normal day. However, this time, Shinozuka follows them out of ‘obligation’ because she’s the disciplinary committee of the school and rumours have it that those two are the school’s trouble makers outside of school. Upon following, she finds out that Manana and Chio treat each other very badly as if they aren’t friends at all. Frustrated by it, she confronts those two and asks them to prove their friendship.

Day 11 – Trying to Sell 1000 Boxes of Buns in a Week

Sakura Quest Buns 5

Anime: Sakura Quest

There is one episode in Sakura Quest where the main character Yoshino is forced to sell 1000 boxes of manju buns because the stupid Director of the Tourism bureau accidently bought too many. They decided to challenge Yoshino to sell all of them in only a week. Having accidently signed a contract with the bureau to work for them for a year without realizing, Yoshino accepts the challenge. The deal is that if she managed to sell all 1000 boxes in a week, she will be freed from any kind of contract with the bureau and Yoshino can go back to Tokyo, the place she really wants to go. And thus, the challenge begins.

Day 10 – Chihaya’s First Match Against The Queen of Karuta

Chihaya VS Shionobu 5

Anime: Chihayafuru

All Karuta matches in Chihayafuru is good and intense but my favourite is the first battle between Chihaya and Shinobu. In other matches, Chihaya’s the centre of attention whether or not she wins but in this match, Shinobu takes the spotlight effortlessly.

Shinobu’s first swing of the match pretty much sets the bar not only for the rest of the match but for the rest of the anime. This first swing lets everybody knows that she’s one syllable faster than an average Class A player and that her accuracy is unfathomable. The rest of the match shows how superior and unchallenged she is by Chihaya. Our main character almost can’t do anything at all. The match is completely one sided but that’s what makes the game very enjoyable.

Day 9 – Futaba doesn’t Get The Role She Wants

Futaba Broke 2

Anime: Seiyuu’s Life

In Seiyuu’s life, there’s one part which completely broke Futaba and also us as an audience. It’s when she wants to be the role of Uma from a manga called Spiral Cafe which is going to have an anime adaptation, but doesn’t get to be one.

In the universe of Seiyuu’s Life, Spiral cafe is a popular manga series that has gotten a drama CD adaptation and going to have an anime adaptation. Futaba played the role of Uma, a character in Spiral Cafe in the Drama CD. Because it is going to be adapted again into anime, Futaba hopes to get the role of Uma again in the anime. Usually, the same cast of voice actors are used in both drama CD and anime. Well usually, not always.

Day 8 – Riko and Reg’s Sufferings in The Fourth Layer of The Abyss

Episode 10

Anime: Made in Abyss

I watched this anime knowing the glory behind it. I mean, people always gush about this anime not being only cutesy and generic and that it’s much darker than it looks. People also gush about how the world of the anime is stunningly beautiful. Because of these, I went and watched the anime with a very high expectation and with the preconceived notion that this anime is going to extremely great. But sadly, I didn’t find it all that interesting, at least not as much as other people told me so. The biggest drawback to me is that I just find the fantasy world of the anime not as interesting as I thought. The concept of the abyss is pretty great but I’m just not curious enough to know more about the abyss.

Day 7 – Kae’s Sudden Transformation

Kiss Him Not Me 4.png

Anime: Kiss Him, Not Me

I mentioned in my review that this particular scene was what made me try this anime in the first place. If you don’t know the scene, it’s actually in the first episode where Kae, the main character transforms from being fat to being super slender as a result of her depression. She does not get out of her room and does not even eat for a week. The result of it is very positive though, at least towards her body.

Day 6 – Anzu’s Separation From The Homeless People

Anzu Separate 7.png

Anime: Hina Festival

Hina Festival is a comedy dominant anime and a very great one too. It’s been a long time since I actually laughed that much watching a series. But with all the abundance of funny moments, the anime also slides in some of the most emotional moments and one of them is when Anzu is forced to be separated from the homeless society she’s grown attached to.

Day 5 – Massacres

Cells at Work Massacre.png

Anime: Cells at Work

Yes, this show is cute. Yes, this show is fluffy. And yes, this show is educational. But man, no one can ignore the number of kills in this anime. It must be millions every single episode. Heck, I don’t even want to know how many died in the last arc of the anime.

Let’s not get ahead of myself here. If you haven’t watched this anime for some reason, you’ve probably heard about it because it’s super popular it’s impossible to miss. So in every episode, there will be a problem inside the body and the cells have to work and find solutions to the problem. The problems can range from having virus or bacteria attacks to allergy and wound. It seems pretty interesting and normal, right? Well of course it is! Other than the fact that MILLIONS of cells actually die as a result to those problems every episode…

Day 4 – Running Away From the Expedition Team

Running Scene 4

Anime: A Place Further Than The Universe

In the second episode of the anime, there is a scene where Kimari, Hinata and Shirase running away from two of the members of the antarctica expedition. Because they know who Shirase is, they are very against Shirase from following the expedition. So once they see her and her friends, they quickly chase them to talk some sense to them.

I really like this scene because it’s a symbol of starting a new unfamiliar journey. It’s a sign of the characters going forward albeit struggling very hard and not even knowing if they’ll succeed. It becomes much more apparent when Kimari starts laughing and enjoying the supposed horrifying run. It shows the thrill the characters, especially Kimari are feeling doing something intense and novel. It shows the hope the characters are holding onto as they believe that anything can happen and everything is going to work out. It shows that their lives are changing either for better or for worse. In Kimari’s perception, of course it is for the better.

Day 3 – Amano’s Confession Towards Tendou

Confession Scene 2.png

Anime: Gamers!

First of all you just have to know that I extremely love this anime. It doesn’t have any heavy plot or complicated emotional romance or even out of the world, nichijou-like comedy but I love it regardless.

My favourite scene in the entire anime has to be when Amano accidentally confesses towards Tendou. The whole scene is pure comedy gold. We have the build up almost the whole episode leading up to that very moment in time. The whole confession thing is set up by different people for different purpose of their own personal importance and interest.
