I forgot to say this in my previous episode’s post but the opening song feels VERY retro! I feel like I’m watching a 90s series. It’s a fun song though so I don’t mind listening to it… over and over again.
There’s nothing much to say about this episode. It still uses the same formula as the previous one, with the whole episode being divided into three segments. So in these two episodes, we managed to cover 6 chapters of the manga! Well not exactly. The anime did skip quite a few chapters of the manga but it mainly skipped the skits that make zero progress to the story. In this episode, there is at least some progress. For one, more characters are introduced and I tell you, the new ‘Kabe-DOWN’ couple is hilarious from start to finish. I’d love to see them more.
Now let’s talk about the narrator. The narrator… I honestly believe that starting the episode with the narrator recapping everything is totally unnecessary. The first four minutes is just a waste of time. It could’ve been replaced with actual content instead. I really hope they don’t shove this narrator at our faces in the beginning of every episode.
I’m very grateful though that the narrator’s role is reduced in this episode. However, many of the jokes in the manga actually rely on the narrator. I really like the narrator in the manga because it enhances the humour but in the anime, the narrator really feels out of time sometimes. I don’t particularly hate the narrator of course but… I don’t know, let’s see how the rest of the series goes.
There you have it, the second episode of one of the most hyped series of the season. I enjoyed it so far and I don’t think I will not enjoy it in the future. But this is coming from the manga fan. I’d love to know how the anime-only watchers feel about this anime. If you only watch the anime, what do you think about this anime so far?
