Music Performances in Sound! Euphonium

Sound Euphonium 1.jpg

The performance, usually the live performance is one of the most important moments in all music anime. If it’s good, it makes the characters feel more real and alive. If it skips the performance, it makes us wonder why it is a music anime in the first place.

Many music anime such as Stop This Sound, which I recently watched, have so much dialogue during the performance. As they play their instruments, the characters watching them play would make remarks like, “It’s very good. I feel like all the seasons have changed” or “oh my God they all play the impossible notes in sync even though it’s… well, impossible!!!” The remarks, to me, breaks the flow of the performance. I want to listen to the performance and let me catch it first hand how awesome or awful they play and how good they’ve become. But I can’t because other characters interrupt me and describe how they play to me.

‘Papers, Please!’ – A Very Stressful Game

Papers Please

During the summer steam sale, I looked into many indie title games available on Steam and are on sale. Papers, Please happens to be one of them.

Like many indie games, the gameplay is very unique. You are the inspector of a fictional country called Arstotzka, guarding one of the entrances of the East border of the country. A war against a neighbouring country has just ended but the peace is still very fragile. Your job is to inspect everyone who wants to enter the East border of the country. The means of inspection is by examining their personal related documents such as passports and ID cards, hence the title, Papers, Please.

Kaguya-sama Love is War – Essentially A Comedy

Kaguya 1

The more popular anime from last season ended a while ago and it has received much praise from many people including myself. It’s a comedy anime about two people liking each other but refuses to confess to each other because in doing so, they declare that they are the loser of their own love war. They subconsciously know that the other person likes them back so they always make the most elaborate plans to lure the other person into accidentally confessing or imply a confession. Both Shinomiya Kaguya and Shirogane Miyuki are depicted as intelligent students but they use their intelligence for idiotic purposes.

Ramadhan is Here!

Anime Ramadhan

That’s right guys, the month of Ramdhan starts today! The month when we don’t eat or drink during the day but feast hard during the night. It was quite surprising to know that Ramdhan comes this early. I thought it was still 2 weeks away.

I’ll share with you one reason why we fast during this month. One of the morals is for us to understand the struggle of people who don’t have food at their disposal. It’s a really good thing to understand in my opinion.

Anyway, enjoy this year’s Ramadhan, and enjoy a variety of food that are only largely produced during Ramadhan! Well in my country at least.

See you next time!

Hey, It Has Been A Long Time!

Anime girl waving.gif

Hey there, I’m back! It’s been quite a while since I’ve last posted here. Well okay my previous post about To The Moon is just there to break the very long silence. I missed my weekly Kaguya-sama review and I even abandoned Yomu’s collaboration project. (I’m really sorry!) I do plan to finish the posts. I think that’s what I should do even if it’s super late.

Many things happened while I’m gone and I’m going to talk some of them.

To start things off, my grandfather fell down and and fractured his left hip and left shoulder bone. How? He was getting out of a car from the passenger seat but misplaced his cane and fell down left shoulder first. It wasn’t really a big fall but my grandfather is 87 years old, a small accident could damage a lot to an old body like his.

Replaying To The Moon

To The Moon Main Menu.png

I’ve been playing To The Moon again. It’s been a long time since I first played it. I think it was back in 2013. My friend was the one who introduced me to this game and I thank him for that.

Back then I wasn’t really into the narrative when it comes to games. I played games because of the gameplay, not because of the story. So when I played any video game, I skipped every cutscene (unless they can’t be skipped) and I ignored every dialogue. I couldn’t care less about what happened to the characters and the overall story. I just want to play the game.

Cross Game: Switching The Main Heroine

Wallpaper Cross Game

Before going in, I just want to say that if you haven’t watched the first episode, I highly recommend you watch it. I’m going to go through a bit of the spoilery side of the episode. Well it’s only the first episode but a big event happens at the end of the episode. I watched the episode completely blind and I think it’s the best way to experience it. With that said, let’s begin.

A few minutes into the episode, I noticed a few things different about this anime. Firstly, it’s the character design. The anime has a very old styled character design which I think fits perfectly with the tone of the anime. Secondly, the tone of the anime. It looks like a sports anime from the outside but in the first episode, it’s quite clear that this is essentially a love story. The main character, Kitamura Kou spends way more time with the ‘supposed’ main heroine Tsukishima Wakaba than he plays or even thinks about baseball. After knowing this, some might be turned off because they expect a sport anime but I personally like the approach. I mean, I don’t hate romance in anime so I can see myself enjoying the series.
